How MaST could support Mental Health Services during the COVID-19 Pandemic

At OHS we have improved our MaST dashboards to support Mental Health Services during the COVID-19 Pandemic:

  • Identify and monitor service users who are shielded or otherwise vulnerable because of the pandemic

  • Alert care coordinators when service users haven’t been contacted for 4 weeks or more

  • Prioritise people at higher risk of using crisis services or with complex mental health needs

  • Stay on top of caseload management, even when colleagues are absent, with a 10 minute daily activity review

  • Bring together information from mental health, physical health and social care services

Providing digital insight solutions for mental healthcare organisations

Otsuka Health Solutions ("OHS") is an award winning team working within mental health services helping transform data into valuable insights which:

  • Assist decisions on resource allocation
  • Support patient flow
  • Quickly identify people at risk of using crisis services
  • Deliver the best care to patients

OHS is a digital health division of a large healthcare organisation (Otsuka Pharmaceutical Europe Ltd.) with expertise in analytics, technology and the clinical implementation of these in mental healthcare services.

Our Approach

Our spirit is based on activating insight in a human and caring way.

OHS products have always been developed with front line NHS staff and service users at every stage of the design process.

The algorithms and software which underpin the OHS solutions are adaptable and transferable, enabling them to integrate with the existing infrastructure of most organisations. The ability to adjust and personalise is core to the OHS offering.

Deep Understanding:

We specialise in mental healthcare and have a deep understanding of what it’s like to work in and access mental health services.  We want to ensure service users and staff have the best possible tools to manage care.

Impact identified in clinical setting:

  • Improved awareness of people at increased risk of using crisis services.
  • Faster discharge of suitable service users.
  • Faster regrade of care of suitable service users.
  • Improved time frames from referral to treatment.

Information Governance:

  1. OHS have a strong focus on Information Security and Governance through application of the ISO27001 framework and completing an annual submission to the NHS Digital Data Security and Protection Toolkit (formerly the NHS Digital Information Governance Toolkit)
  2. OHS have a dedicated Clinical Safety Officer who ensures compliance with the DCB0129 standards on Clinical Risk Management for Health IT systems
